FAQ  /  Getting Started

My hormone therapy doesn't feel as amazing as it did at first. Has it stopped working, and do I need a higher dose?

Quick Answer

Not necessarily. When you start hormone therapy after being low for a long time, the change can feel dramatic: better sleep, more energy, a better sex drive. Over a few months, that improvement often starts to feel ordinary. Your brain gets used to feeling better, so the "wow" fades even though the benefits are still there.

A Better Test Than How You Feel Today

A better test than how you feel today is how you compare with before you started. Are you still sleeping better? Is your energy better? Are you getting through your day more easily? If so, your treatment is likely still doing its job.

Why a Higher Dose Usually Isn't the Answer

Raising your dose just to recreate that first rush usually isn't the answer. More hormone doesn't mean more benefit, and it can bring side effects without bringing the feeling back.

If Your Symptoms Are Truly Coming Back

If your symptoms are truly coming back, let your provider know. We'll take it seriously and reassess, which may include checking your levels and other causes like sleep, stress, or thyroid. It may or may not mean a dose change.
