Transparent About What's Included. Flexible on the Details.
PHC is a cash-pay practice. We don't bill insurance — which means no prior authorizations, no coverage denials, and no one between you and your physician making clinical decisions. HSA and FSA accounts are eligible for most PHC services. Specific pricing is discussed during your free initial consultation, where we can match the right level of care to your situation.
Three Levels of PHC Care
Every PHC engagement starts with the same free consultation. From there, the scope of care depends on what you actually need — not a package you're upsold into.
Hormone Optimization
For patients whose primary presentation is hormone deficiency — testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, or a combination.
IncludesAdvanced Hormone + Thyroid
For patients with thyroid involvement — or those whose hormone optimization hasn't produced the expected results.
Everything in Hormone Optimization, plusComprehensive Functional Medicine
For patients with multi-system presentations — adrenal dysfunction, PCOS, chronic fatigue, dysautonomia, fibromyalgia, or gut health involvement.
Everything above, plusHow Payment Works at PHC
PHC is a cash-pay practice by design. We made this choice deliberately — it means your care is governed by your clinical needs, not by what an insurance plan will authorize. Here's what that means in practice.
No Insurance Billing
PHC does not bill insurance. This eliminates prior authorization delays, coverage denials, and formulary restrictions that routinely prevent patients from accessing the treatments that work best for them. You pay directly for your care.
HSA & FSA Eligible
Most PHC physician services and lab work qualify as eligible medical expenses under HSA and FSA accounts. Using pre-tax dollars reduces your effective out-of-pocket cost meaningfully. We recommend confirming with your account administrator for your specific plan.
Medications Billed Separately
PHC physician fees cover your clinical care — consultations, evaluations, monitoring, and protocol management. Medications, lab work, and compounding pharmacy costs are billed separately. We'll give you a clear picture of all expected costs before you commit to anything.
Pricing Discussed at Consult
Specific fees depend on the scope of your care — which is determined by your clinical picture, not a predetermined package. The free initial consultation is where we discuss your situation, what the appropriate level of care looks like, and what it will cost. No surprises.
PHC charges for physician time and clinical expertise — not for access to a protocol. If you've been paying for hormone therapy and still don't feel well, the problem usually isn't the medication. It's the depth of the evaluation.
Pricing Questions We Hear Often
Why doesn't PHC take insurance?
Insurance plans routinely deny coverage for bioidentical hormones, compounded medications, desiccated thyroid, and many of the lab markers PHC considers essential to a complete evaluation. Accepting insurance would mean letting coverage decisions dictate clinical ones. We don't think that serves patients well — so we opted out entirely.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Yes, in most cases. PHC physician services and associated lab work are generally eligible medical expenses under HSA and FSA accounts. Compounded medications may also qualify depending on your plan. We recommend confirming with your account administrator, as plan rules vary.
What does a typical patient spend?
It varies significantly based on the scope of care needed. A patient requiring straightforward hormone optimization has meaningfully different costs than a patient with thyroid dysfunction, adrenal involvement, and a functional medicine workup. This is exactly why we discuss pricing on the free consult — so you have a complete and honest picture before making any decision.
Are lab costs included?
Lab work is billed separately from physician fees — typically through a third-party lab. We work with labs that offer transparent, reasonable cash-pay pricing. We'll tell you exactly what labs are needed and what they'll cost before you order them.
What about medication costs?
Medications are prescribed to a pharmacy of your choosing — either a retail pharmacy or a compounding pharmacy depending on the protocol. Compounded bioidentical hormones are generally not covered by insurance but are often eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement. Costs vary by medication, dose, and delivery method and will be discussed as part of your treatment plan.
